Type of EPD: cradle-to-factory gate The system boundaries include the manufacture of avb123 including the extraction of raw materials through to the finished product at the factory gate. The product stage includes: Module A1: Extraction and processing of raw materials. Module A2: Transport of raw materials to the factory gate and internal transport. Module A3: Manufacture of cement or cementitious components. The construction stage, the usage stage and the disposal stage are not taken into account in the life cycle assessment for cement.

General comment avb123 is ein Portlandzement CEM I 42,5 N der gemäß EN 197-1 hergestellt und überwacht wird. Dieser Zement ist ein hydraulisch erhärtendes Bindemittel zur Herstellung von Beton und Mörtel. Er besteht aus einem Gemisch fein aufgemahlener, nichtmetallisch-anorganischer Bestandteile. Nach Zugabe von Wasser zum Zement entsteht eine Suspension (Zementleim), die aufgrund einsetzender Hydratationsreaktion sowohl an der Luft als auch unter Wasser erstarrt und erhärtet sowie dauerhaft fest bleibt. Die Zusammensetzung des Produkts entspricht den Vorgaben der EN 197-1.
